Oil Objectives

If you selected an Oil immersion objective then it should appear as indicated above with the 60x objective. Silicone Oil will appear as Silicone but will have the same functionality as Oil immersion. 

When switching to and from this objective, Fusion will prompt you to add or remove oil from this objective. Fusion will also automatically move* the stage to a safe position to allow you to add oil to the objective.

*Note: If you are using a well plate or an incubator, the stage will not be moved for you. You will need to manually remove the well plate/incubator in order to access the oil objective.

Adding Oil With Incubator Off

When switching to an oil objective, you will be prompted for confirmation:

After confirming, a dialog window will appear while the hardware moves to the safe position for adding oil, once complete is selected  a prompt to add oil will appear, after adding oil and selecting complete the last prompt will appear to move back to starting position.

Once complete, the oil objective will be selected and you will now notice an oil drop icon on it:

Clicking this icon will repeat the above process should you wish to add more oil to the current objective. 

Cleaning oil

When switching away from an oil objective, Fusion will prompt you to clean the oil objective. This process is similar to adding oil and you will be prompted in the same way when trying to move away from an oil objective:

After confirming, the stage will move to the safe position and you will be prompted to clean the objective. Once complete, the new objective will be selected and the stage will return to the previous position.

Shutting down Fusion with an Oil Objective selected

If you try to close Fusion while the oil objective is selected, you will be prompted to clean it. It is recommended you clean the oil objective if you are not going to be using the system for a while. 

Ticking the "Do not remind me again" option will mean this dialog is never shown again if you shut down while using the oil objective.
