FPN / Background Correction

Background Capture Mode

By default, when taking an FPN (Fixed Pattern Noise) background image, the microscope port will be changed to redirect light from the sample away from the camera.  Changing this option to Filter Cube will instead use the specified filter to block the light.

Default: Microscope Port

Background Capture Port

Selects the microscope port that will be used when taking an FPN background image, when the capture mode is set to Microscope Port.

This should be set to a different port to that which the camera is connected.

On most inverted microscopes, it is the left port that is used by the imaging system (e.g. Andor Dragonfly). In this situation, the Background Capture Port should be selected as the Eyepieces or Right Port.

Default: Varies by microscope.

Background Capture Filter

Selects the filter that will be used when taking an FPN background image, when the capture mode is set to Filter Cube.

Default: Varies by microscope.
